UAE Communication > Presentations
  • The executive summary and main points should be available in both English and Arabic.
  • If you develop a rapport with your audience, they are more likely to accept what you say.
  • Initial presentations should provide the big picture. Details can be provided in handouts or other written materials.
  • Emiratis respect self-confident since they believe it demonstrates that a person is trustworthy. Status is often determined by non-verbal behaviour.
  • It is better to provide a package with all background materials with the agenda, prior to the meetings.
  • If someone enters the room after you have started your presentation, stop speaking until the newcomer has greeted everyone in the room. When the person has found a seat and looks towards you, begin speaking again.
  • Since their own language is flowery and eloquent, many Emiratis consider a simple and direct speech pattern brusque and rude.
