Gift Giving
Americans exchange gifts with family and close friends on birthdays, anniversaries, on major holidays such as Christmas and Chanukah, and at other important events in a person's life.
Family gift giving usually includes only the nuclear family.
A gift can be a simple card and personal note or something more elaborate for someone with whom you’re closer.
The value is related to the level of personal relationship.
Gift giving isn’t usually an elaborate event, and gifts are usually opened on the spot.
Wrap in any colour you like.
When dining at someone’s home, bring a good box of chocolates, a bottle of wine, or flowers or a potted plant.
Send flowers ahead, so they may be displayed at the event.
A small gift for the children is a nice gesture.
