USA Travellers & Visitors > Immigration & Consulates
VisasThe Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows nationals of certain countries to travel to the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa. VWP-eligible travellers may apply for a visa. VWP travellers are screened prior to admission into the US, and they are enrolled in the Department of Homeland Security’s US-VISIT program.

Nationals of the following countries are eligible for the VWP: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and UK.

The Department of State has detailed information about the types of visas and requirements.

Visas can be applied for at American Embassies or Consulates. Although visa applicants may apply at any US consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for the visa outside the country of permanent residence.

You can find additional information at Visa Info or Visa HQ.
