Gift Giving
The British exchange gifts between family members and close friends for birthdays and Christmas. The gift need not be expensive.
When invited to someone's home, bring a box of good chocolates, a good bottle of wine or champagne, or flowers to the hostess.
If the invitation is to a formal dinner, you might not want to bring wine as the host will have selected the wines for the evening.
If invited to a dinner party and you plan to give flowers, you might want to send them in advance, so they may be displayed that evening.
A small gift for the children isĀ appreciated, but not expected.
Gifts are opened when received.
